Florida’s Miami International Airport is located just a short drive away from downtown Miami. You’ll find yourself in some of the city’s most interesting and coolest neighborhoods within minutes of leaving the airport. After picking up your rental car, you’ll exit the airport via Northwest 21st Street and then Northwest 37th Avenue, passing by, yes, a country club and waterpark that’s literally situated right beside the airport.

From Northwest 37th Avenue, you can get onto FL-836 East, also known as the Dolphin Expressway. Do note that this is a toll road, so you’ll want to have cash handy (you can get some from an ATM at the airport before you collect your rental car). You’ll continue on the expressway for about five miles, merging onto I-95 South toward downtown, until you reach the Southwest 7th Street exit. Take that exit toward US-41 and then continue straight onto Southwest 4th Avenue. This puts you right in downtown Miami.
