Washington, D.C. Almost Triples Its Car Rental Rates for Thanksgiving
November 24, 2014

Renting a car in Washington, D.C. this Thanksgiving is going to be a much more costly situation than usual. Getting around for the holiday in the nation’s capital, in fact, will cost car renters nearly 200% more than it normally would. A new survey from CheapCarRental.net came to this conclusion after comparing car rental rates for 30 destinations in the United States. The survey used the time period spanning November 26 through November 30, 2014 in coming up with its results.

Over the long Thanksgiving weekend, car renters in Washington, D.C. can expect to pay $112 per rental day, and that’s for the cheapest available car. At that rate they’ll be paying 197% more than they would on a non-Thanksgiving day. That figure positions the nation’s capital as the most expensive U.S. destination. It also puts the city slightly ahead of the typical frontrunner, New York City. The Big Apple takes the number two spot in the rankings with an average car rental rate of $110 per day.

Rounding out the Top 3 most expensive car rental cities this Thanksgiving is Baltimore. At an average price tag of $106 daily for the most affordable rental car, Maryland’s biggest city takes the survey’s number three spot. There, car renters will be paying double the amount their counterparts elsewhere in the country will have to pay in general.
