Driving from Albuquerque International Sunport into downtown Albuquerque takes barely more than 10 minutes. After leaving the car rental service parking lots, you’ll take Sunport Boulevard to exit the airport. Turn right to merge onto I-25 North toward I-40 North, or downtown.

Continue on I-25 North, also sometimes referred to as CanAm Highway, as well as Pan American Freeway. Take Exit 224A toward Coal Avenue and then merge onto Oak Street Southeast, before turning left onto Central Avenue North East, also known as Route 66. Once on the famous Route 66, the symbol of American travel in the 1950s, it will take you straight into downtown Albuquerque, where you can soak in the nostalgic feel of the destination!
