To reach Kauai’s largest city, Kapaa, from Lihue Airport, depart the airport via Ahukini Road, passing the rental car center and taking a sharp left to stay on Ahukini Road. After less than a third of a mile, you’ll turn right onto HI-51 N, before continuing onto HI-56 N in 1.5 miles.

After 4 miles on HI-56 N, turn left onto the HI-5600/Kapaa Bypass. After 2.3 miles and once you’ve reached the traffic circle at Kapaa Town Park, take the second exit onto State Highway 581/Olohena Road. After 0.7 miles, you’ll find yourself in Kapaa’s city center.
